Ontario NVIS Event

Members of the Peel ARC are organizing an NVIS event in South-Eastern Ontario to practice using NVIS techniques for short-to-medium-range HF communications.

This event is set to occur Sunday, October 16th from 1300H to 1600H Eastern. Planning and details for member participation in this event will be happening on VE2CRA Thursday, October 13th at 1900H.

Excerpt from https://ve3xr.wordpress.com/2016/09/14/ontario-nvis-event-october-16th/:

"We invite you to a southern Ontario regional NVIS communications event on October 16th from 1-4 PM EDT. The goal of the event is to make contacts and talk to other operators using NVIS techniques. No restrictions on operation, just get on the air and operate with your best NVIS antenna. Bands of interest are 40, 60, and 80, depending on conditions. Suggested frequencies for SSB are 3.700-750, 5.357, and 7.060-070. CW, 3.550, 5.3465, and 7.030. We suggest this identifier when calling to make it easier to identify the participants: CQ NVIS Ontario 'call sign'. Ham operators across the province in many different clubs have expressed interest and hope you will join us on the air."

Further details from Peter VE3POA:

"To date the following clubs have expressed interest in participating: Hamilton Peel Niagara Kitchener Kingston York Region" Other clubs have been reached out to and we are now waiting confirmation of participation. It would be great if there was some interest from the Ottawa area and are able to join us in on the fun.

"This is more about experimentation and playing radio vs the competitive contest. No restrictions on equipment or locations, just get on the air with what ever antenna one thinks will work well for NVIS communications. Individual, group, at home, or in the field stations are all encouraged. More the better and likely better chance of qso's. "
