The OARC monthly meeting was held on September 13, 2006 at Ottawa City Hall and was called to order at 19:30 by President Diane Bruce, VA3DB.
There were 34 present including two guests - Graham de, VE3BYT, and Dave Goodwin, VE3AAQ.
The president thanked outgoing executive members Bryan Campbell, Ernie Brown, and Richard Hagemeyer or their contributions. She also advised members that he executive still needed a secretary and a director and anyone wishing to volunteer should contact any execu- ive member.
Greg Danylchenko reported on the Hamfest results. Admissions were up from last year (371 as opposed to 350) and so was profit. Greg thanked all the volunteers or their efforts. The RAC Forum was also well at- ended. He announced that Ed Sich, VE3WGO, has volunteered to become the new Hamfest manager. Greg was presented with a plaque in honour of his run- ning the Hamfest for the past seven years.
Harold Hamilton, VE3UNK, presented a slide show on the 2006 Field Day statistics and operations. This year much of the operation took place on battery power and under 10 L of gasoline were used in the generator. The generator was off all night to keep the sight quiet.
The evening's speaker, Ernie Brown, VA3OEB, gave a presentation on "Radio Waves Across the North" de- cribing the communications involved in the air ferry highway from Canada and the US to Russia during WWII.
George Roach announced the QCWA QSO Party and invited any eligible hams to join the QCWA and their weekly breakfast meetings Thursdays at 09:00 at the Embassy West hotel.
Dave Green gave a brief presentation "Amateur Radio Restructuring in Canada" and the work of RAC's committee on restructuring. He advised members to view more details and answer the sur- vey on the RAC web site.
The 50/50 draw was won by Ernie Brown and the meeting was adjourned at 21:30.
